MEET THE DERM: Q&A WITH DR ANAHITA GHORBANI

We are proud to introduce Common Clouds *drumroll* advising skin doctor, Dr Anahita.

Please introduce yourself!

– My name is Anahita Ghorbani and I work as a dermatologist. 5 years ago I moved home to Stockholm, after many years of education and work in Barcelona, Copenhagen, Tokyo and London. Today I work at Diagnostiskt centrum hud in central Stockholm.

How did your interest in skin start?

– My interest in the skin began, as for so many others, in my teens when I started getting greasy skin and pimples. Double cleansing and acids helped me then, but most importantly I learned to predict what my skin needed.

Why did you become a dermatologist?

– During my years in medical school, there was no time or energy for advanced self-care other than moisturiser and occasional sunscreen. When the dermatology course came at the end of my medical education, I was completely captivated by the images of the varying skin conditions. Being able to make a diagnosis, help patients straight away and get visible results - WOW! When the time came to choose specialisation, there was nothing more obvious than choosing skin!

What do you love about your job?

– Today, I absolutely love to be able to share knowledge about, examine and of course treat skin problems every day. But the energy for self-care has only increased slightly, I am still a minimalist in skin care.
