BLACKHEADS

 

What are they?

Pores filled with non-inflamed sebum (skin’s natural oils).

 What are they not?
Dirt. Sebum darkens as It oxidises.
 

How to handle them?
Look for skincare with BHA - the main character in treating clogged pores.

WHITEHEADS

What are they?

The yellow, pus-filled ones. Also known as pustules, zits or blemishes.


What are they not?
Uncommon, specially in teenagers. 

How to handle them?
Pimples patches help to absorb the gunk and help skin to recover.

PAPULES


What are they?

The swollen, red ones brewing under the surface. Often painful.
 
What are they not?
Yellow – yet. Papules are an early sign of inflammation.
 
How to handle them?
Soothing skincare with ingredients like centella, sulfur or gentle BHA.
 

NODULES


What are they?

The deep, painful ones. Often genetic.
 
What are they not?
Something to ignore as they can cause scarring. And they hurt!
 
How to handle them?
A visit to a skin doctor is recommended before you try to treat them yourself.
 

CYSTS


What are they?

The deep, painful ones that turn yellow. Softer than nodules.
 
What are they not?
Whiteheads. The cysts are deeper and can cause scarring.
 
How to handle them?
A visit to a skin doctor is recommended. Wear a pimple patch to avoid picking.
